Dysbiosis (also called dysbacteriosis) is a term for a microbial imbalance or mal-adaptation on or inside the body, such as an impaired gut microbiome. (A bad mix of gut bacteria.) Over the last 5 years scientists have discovered that dysbiosis is the fundamental cause of many medical conditions. In addition imbalance in the natural gut flora due to poor diet can contribute to Dysbiosis.

Trillions of tiny microbes exist mainly inside your intestines and on your skin. Most of the microbes in your intestines are found in a "pocket" of your large intestine called the cecum, and they are referred to as the gut microbiome. What's more, there are up to 1,000 species of bacteria in the human gut microbiome, and each of them plays a different role in your body. Most of them are extremely important for your health, while others may cause disease (3).
It is well understood now that there is a direct and critical connection between the health of your gut microbiome and your overall health and wellbeing. There is now exciting research seeking to understand the exact mechanisms at play but it has been established that a “healthy gut is the engine to a healthy body”. For more information in this area read GUT by Giulia Enders.
Findings, published in the journal 'Nature' report that scientists have discovered that resident bacteria of the intestine, collectively known as the gut microbiome, can influence our ability to overcome fear. This research focused on the vagus nerve, which is something of a direct signalling superhighway between the gut and the brain, now known as the gut-brain axis. There are now some 20 human studies that have confirmed that the profile of our gut microbiome has an important role in our stress, anxiety and mood. Accumulating clinical evidence suggests that probiotics can modulate the stress response and improve mood and anxiety symptoms in patients with chronic fatigue and irritable bowel syndrome (15, 16). One such organism studied is Lactobacillus rhamnosus.
Trueform probiotics are specifically designed to optimize your gut microbiome over time, giving you a daily boost. Our selected probiotics progressively displace the “bad” bacteria in your gut and sustain a healthier gut balance over time. We know it takes around three months for this displacement to take full effect. We boost this transformation by including specific pre-biotics designed to selectively promote the good bacteria and therefore overcome the “bad” bacteria. In addition we have added some essential vitamins and minerals to really boost your wellbeing.
Probiotics for immune health is an important and well established area of science. 70% of the body’s immune cells are located in the digestive system and numerous scientific studies have shown that ingestion of specific probiotic strains can support a healthy and balanced immune system and strengthen immunity.
Yes they do. We know that the gut-brain axis is connected via the vagus nerve and that 70% of all our nerve ending reside in our gut. A healthy gut has a direct influence over our mood and wellbeing. The Trueform probiotic range, along with magnesium and Vitamin B12, has been specifically designed to improve this connection.
Recent laboratory and human studies have found that people who are a healthy weight have different gut bacteria to those who are over-weight. These studies suggest that gut bacteria may play a powerful role in weight regulation. Our Premium and Essential Daily Boost products are formulated to assist in weight control, coupled with a balanced diet.
We know that certain prebiotics, or fibres, promote the production of short chain fatty acids (SCFAs) in our intestine. A review of the evidence reported that butyrate, a SCFA, can have positive effects in both animals and humans with type 2 diabetes. The same review also highlighted that there appears to be an imbalance in gut microorganisms in people with diabetes. Short-chain fatty acids have been shown to increase enzyme activity in the liver and muscle tissue, resulting in better blood sugar control. This area is under active research.
A urinary tract infection (UTI) can affect any part of the urinary system, kidneys, bladder or urethra. Symptoms include frequent, painful urination, pelvic pain and traces of blood in the urine. A study in Medical News Today reported that Cranberry powder lowered the risk of UTIs by 50%. In the cranberry treatment group, 19% of patients developed a UTI, compared with 38% of the placebo group. Interestingly the same study concluded that Cranberry juice has no significant effect.

Our research and experience tell us that it takes approximately 3 months before the benefits of the Premium and Essential Daily Boosts take their full effect. This is because it takes this time to displace the “bad” bacteria with the “good” bacteria. To kick start the process we suggest to commence using the Premium Boost then after 3 months you may choose to revert to the Essential Daily Boost option as a maintenance dose. For our Cranberry/ Vitamin C blend a short course is generally sufficient however you may wish to also use the product as a preventative or maintenance program.
Quality starts at the suppliers and is built into the product during every step of manufacture and testing. Trueform have extensive international experience in good manufacturing practices (GMPs) that enable us to build quality into our products at every step. Just to be sure we also rigorously test all starting material and the finished products to pharmacopeial standards. We also support our product by extensive stability programs.
Simply put, probiotics are live microorganisms that live in your gut. While a lot of people think that microorganisms — especially the bacteria variety — are harmful to your health, probiotics are actually there to provide health benefits. But sometimes you need a little boost from outside sources in order to secure those benefits, which is why a lot of experts recommend getting an extra hit of probiotics either through certain fermented foods or via a daily probiotics supplement. Probiotics have been known to restore good gut bacteria, prevent urinary tract infections, strengthen immunity, boost digestion, improve brain health and promote overall wellbeing.
Prebiotics are specific fibres that selectively promote the proliferation or good gut bacteria over bad bacteria. Western diet has been shown to promote a shift in gut microbiota composition toward high numbers of bad bacteria principally because of either the wrong diet or the wrong fibre intake. Trueform have selected Polydextrose (PDX) as complementary prebiotic because it (a) promotes the growth of good probiotics such as bifidobacteria and lactobacilli and (b) PDX has also been known to increase SCFA production. PDX has been thought to reduce blood triglyceride and cholesterol by modulating the gut microbiota but this is still being researched.
  1. Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3)
    Vitamin D is a nutrient found in some foods that is needed for health and to maintain strong bones. It does so by helping the body absorb calcium (one of bone’s main building blocks) from food and supplements. People who get too little vitamin D may develop soft, thin, and brittle bones, a condition known as rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults. Vitamin D is important to the body in many other ways as well. Muscles need it to move, for example, nerves need it to carry messages between the brain and every body part, and the immune system needs vitamin D to fight off invading bacteria and viruses. Together with calcium, vitamin D also helps protect older adults from osteoporosis. Vitamin D is found in cells throughout the body.
  2. Vitamin A (Retinol)
    Vitamin A is a fat-soluble vitamin that is naturally present in many foods. Vitamin A is important for normal vision, the immune system, and reproduction. Vitamin A also helps the heart, lungs, kidneys, and other organs work properly.
  3. Thiamine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B1)
    Thiamin (also called vitamin B1) helps turn the food you eat into the energy you need. Thiamin is important for the growth, development, and function of the cells in your body.
  4. Niacin/ Nicotinamide (Vitamin B3)
    Niacin (also called vitamin B3) helps turn the food you eat into the energy you need. Niacin is important for the development and function of the cells in your body.
  5. Pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6)
    Vitamin B6 is a vitamin that is naturally present in many foods. The body needs vitamin B6 for more than 100 enzyme reactions involved in metabolism. Vitamin B6 is also involved in brain development during pregnancy and infancy as well as immune function.
  6. Cobalamin (Vitamin B12)
    Vitamin B12 is a nutrient that helps keep the body’s nerve and blood cells healthy and helps make DNA, the genetic material in all cells. Vitamin B12 also helps prevent a type of anemia called megaloblastic anemia that makes people tired and weak.
  7. Sodium ascorbate (Vitamin C)
    Vitamin C, also known as ascorbic acid, is a water-soluble nutrient found in some foods. In the body, it acts as an antioxidant, helping to protect cells from the damage caused by free radicals. Free radicals are compounds formed when our bodies convert the food we eat into energy. People are also exposed to free radicals in the environment from cigarette smoke, air pollution, and ultraviolet light from the sun. The body also needs vitamin C to make collagen, a protein required to help wounds heal. In addition, vitamin C improves the absorption of iron from plant-based foods and helps the immune system work properly to protect the body from disease.
  1. Calcium (Ca++)
    Calcium is a mineral found in many foods. The body needs calcium to maintain strong bones and to carry out many important functions. Almost all calcium is stored in bones and teeth, where it supports their structure and hardness. The body also needs calcium for muscles to move and for nerves to carry messages between the brain and every body part. In addition, calcium is used to help blood vessels move blood throughout the body and to help release hormones and enzymes that affect almost every function in the human body.
  2. Magnesium (Mg++)
    Magnesium is a nutrient that the body needs to stay healthy. Magnesium is important for many processes in the body, including regulating muscle and nerve function, blood sugar levels, and blood pressure and making protein, bone, and DNA.
For a UTI to occur, bacteria must adhere to and invade the lining of the bladder. Cranberries contain A-type proanthocyanidins (PACs), which interfere with the bacteria’s ability to adhere to the bladder wall, reducing the likelihood of infection. Together, cranberry constituents and their bioactive catabolites have been found to contribute to mechanisms affecting bacterial adhesion, co-aggregation, and biofilm formation that may underlie potential clinical benefits on gastrointestinal and urinary tract infections. TrueForms formulation contains the PAC producing cranberry strain Vaccinium Macrocarpon Ait. ericaceae.
